Led by board-certified pediatric dentist Dr. Ngozi Okoh, we provide safe, gentle pediatric oral surgery in a child-friendly environment designed for comfort and trust. Whether your child needs a simple surgical procedure or care under general anesthesia, you can count on our team for expert guidance and compassion from start to finish.

We listen. We care. We work together to protect your child’s oral health and confidence.

Why Oral Surgery May Be Needed

Children may need dental surgery for a variety of reasons — from removing baby teeth that don’t fall out naturally to treating infections, injuries, or developmental concerns. Procedures like tooth extractions, frenectomies, and exposure of impacted teeth can support healthy alignment, aid in orthodontic treatment, and protect permanent teeth as they grow.

Dr. Okoh carefully explains each treatment option, helping families understand the process, recovery, and long-term benefits for their child’s oral health and smile.

Common Pediatric Oral Surgery Procedures

Our team performs several types of pediatric dental surgery using advanced, minimally invasive techniques and modern equipment.

  • Tooth Extractions: Removing a damaged or infected tooth to prevent pain and protect neighboring teeth.
  • Frenectomies: A quick, gentle procedure to release restrictive tissue under the tongue (lingual frenectomy) or upper lip (labial frenectomy) that can affect speech or feeding.
  • Exposure of Impacted Teeth:Carefully assisting teeth, often canine teeth, that are blocked from emerging properly. Each procedure is performed with precision and care to ensure the safety of children and promote lasting oral health.

Sedation and Anesthesia Options

Your child’s comfort always comes first. For young patients or those needing more complex dental procedures, Dr. Okoh offers two types of sedation dentistry:

  • In-Office General Anesthesia:Provided in our comfortable, child-centered surgical suite with an anesthesiologist present for safety and full monitoring.
  • Outpatient Treatment: For certain cases, procedures can be completed at a local hospital or surgical center under the supervision of pediatric specialists. We may also use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for light relaxation during simpler visits.Visit our Sedation Dentistry page for more information.

Before and After Care

Every dental treatment is tailored to your child’s unique needs. Before any oral surgery, our team reviews your child’s medical history, explains what to expect, and provides written home-care instructions. Afterward, we offer gentle follow-up and recovery guidance to ensure a smooth, safe healing process.

Parents can fill out sedation forms online before their appointment — saving time and helping us provide the best possible care on the day of treatment.
