Kid-Focused Dentistry
At Farm Park Pediatric Dentistry, we know how stressful a dental emergency can be for both kids and parents. Whether it’s a broken tooth, a knocked-out tooth, or sudden pain, our caring team is here to provide calm, immediate help. Led by board-certified pediatric dentist Dr. Ngozi Okoh, we offer same-day emergency appointments whenever possible to relieve discomfort and protect your child’s oral health.
We listen. We care. We work together to restore your child’s smile and peace of mind.
Same-Day Emergency Appointments
Farm Park Pediatric Dentistry strives to offer same-day appointments to all our patients experiencing a dental emergency.
If your child has lost or broken a tooth (or teeth) due to an injury, give us a call as soon as possible. Quick action can make a huge difference in saving a baby tooth or permanent tooth and preventing further dental problems.
Common Pediatric Dental Emergencies
Our team provides emergency dental care for young children, older children, and teens experiencing:
- Chipped or broken teeth from falls or sports injuries
- Knocked-out teeth or teeth pushed out of position
- Toothaches or swelling caused by decay or infection
- Cuts or soft-tissue injuries inside the mouth
- Objects stuck between teeth or under the gums.
Every situation is unique, so we recommend contacting our office right away for professional care and specific instructions based on the severity of the injury.
What to Do Before Your Visit
Until you can reach our office, here are some simple first-aid steps:
- For a knocked-out permanent tooth, gently rinse it with lukewarm water or cold water—do not scrub the root of the tooth. Try to place it back in the tooth socket or keep it in a glass of milk or your child’s saliva.
- For a baby tooth, do not attempt to reinsert it. Instead, apply a cold compress and call our office for next steps.
- For bleeding or facial injuries, apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth or piece of gauze.
- For discomfort, rinse your child’s mouth with warm water and remove food particles with dental floss if possible. Prompt, gentle action gives the best chance of survival for a lost tooth and helps prevent permanent damage.
How We Treat Dental Emergencies
Once your child arrives, our team will evaluate the injury and discuss treatment options to restore their oral health. Depending on the situation, Dr. Okoh may recommend:
- Dental fillings, crowns, or space maintainers to repair damaged teeth
- Root canal therapy for a severely infected child’s tooth
- Pediatric dental surgery for complex dental trauma
- Fluoride treatments or protective measures to strengthen surrounding teeth
Every treatment plan is customized for your child’s unique needs, ensuring comfort and long-term protection.
Preventing Future Dental Emergencies
While accidents happen, regular dental visits and good oral hygiene habits help keep your child’s mouth healthy and resilient. Encourage your child to wear a mouthguard during sports, avoid hard foods, and maintain consistent brushing and flossing. Preventive care plays a crucial role in keeping teeth strong and reducing the risk of dental trauma.
When a dental accident occurs, don’t wait. Our compassionate team is ready to provide immediate attention and gentle emergency treatment for your child.
